SABC MUST LET VIEWERS DECIDE

So Dali Mpofu want us to believe that the unauthorised biography of President Thabo Mbeki, which the SABC would not broadcast, contained defamatory statements.
This reminds me of Board member Thami Mazwai when he said that there is no editorial independence at the SABC. The current editorial leadership of the SABC has confirmed this.
The SABC commisioned the documentary and advertised the programme to viewers. So what happened with the money spent on the documentary?
Did Mbeki say the documentary was defamatory? I agree with those who says that Mpofu's head has to roll. What happens to free reporting and the the right to know? This guy appears to be lying if he alleges that the documentary was defamatory and that is why it was canned- The documentary must be flighted so viewer can judged for themselves. Our television licence fees will pay the damages, if they arise - viewers deserve quality documentaries. This fray over the documentary shows how speedily censorship is coming back to the Public Broadcaster.I am once again left questioning our national broadcaster's news reporting. The evening broadcast of

2 October on SABC 3 Showed journalists trying to question Mbeki on the suspension of the NPA Director Vusi Pikoli.
The journalists were ushered out of the meeting and then the newsreel appeared to suffer from kind of technical malfunction that often occurs on hot topics close to our government.
Our people are not fools and perhaps if the president and the SABC listened to the voices of common South Africans they might just realise this truth.

No amount of spin-doctoring can change the current South African reality, the ever-growing hopelessness among our poor who constantly struggle to make ends meet.
